Serving the Community
The church hosts a community meal twice a month, on the 1st and 3rd Saturdays. Volunteers prepare and serve a hot meal in our downstairs dining room for the hungry and the homeless in our city. To be part of this important ministry of serving others, please add your name to the sign-up sheet in the Murray Room.
The church's also hosts two important outreach efforts. The Open Hand Pantry, run by Catholic Charities, provides food to approximately 400 people. The pantry is open on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 9 to 11:30 AM. We collect donations for the pantry on the first Sunday of the month. Please bring in your food donations and place them in the Giving Chalice in the sanctuary. We also host the Comminuity Action Drop-In-Center which serves as Haverhill's only drop-in day program for the area's homeless and indigent individuals. The Drop-In Center is open until noon Monday through Friday.
The Cornucopia Project is our annual summertime effort to grow and distribute thousands of ears of corn to various organizations around Haverhill that feed the hungry. It's great to provide them with fresh, tasty corn. This summer we will again be growing the corn with the help of farmer Jason Stewart of Merrimac, MA.
